How To Supercharge Your Sales With AI & LinkedIn š
When someone says āAI,ā how do you feel? Do you love it, loathe it, or are you just indifferent?
The thing is AI is everywhere, even on LinkedIn! And whether we like it or not, AI is here to stay.
Now, Iāll admit, Iām not the biggest AI fan. I found it frustrating at firstāeveryone saying AI was the ultimate productivity booster, but the content I got out was bland, boring and not saving me any time! What was I doing wrong?
Luckily, I know Diane Hall who is an AI trainer, and she shared some brilliant tips that completely changed how I view AI. We talked about it in a recent LinkedIn Live, which you can watch here. But below is a quick rundown of the key takeaways that we covered š
š” Success with AI starts with clear prompts
Using AI really is as simple as typing a prompt into a box. But the real skill lies in knowing what you want to get out of it.
Start with thinking about what youāre trying to achieve, who your audience is, and what the call to action should be. You donāt need any fancy words ā just give it the information it needs to give you a detailed, thoughtful response.
Be clear and specific. AI works best when it knows exactly what you need.
For example, instead of āwrite me a blog about plants,ā ask for āa 1000-word guide on caring for Ficus plants for new gardeners, including soil types and growth potential.ā Get into the details, as the more detailed you are, the better the results.
š” AI is an assistant, not a replacement
Once I grasped that AI wasnāt there to replace me, but to assist me, I got much more excited! Itās like having an extra set of hands to bounce ideas off. Whether itās content creation, brainstorming, or even doing researchāAI takes some of the heavy lifting so you can focus on what you do best.
If youāre ever stuck for content ideas just ask AI to help you! The key is that you are still in control of the final output.
š” Itās more than a content tool
Of course, AI is great for creating content, but itās also fantastic for research, generating lead magnets, prepping for presentations or simplifying complex information. Diane also uses it to hypothesise ideas. I used it to draft a pre-training questionnaireāsomething that would have taken me hours before researching potential questions to ask.
š” Choosing an AI tool
There are loads of tools out there. Some are free, while others offer paid versions with more features. I use ChatGPT, but thereās also Claude and Googleās Gemini, which can offer slightly different outputs. For example, ChatGPTās content can sometimes be quite informal or āamericanised,ā whereas Claude tends to be more professional and toned down.
š” What about false information and plagiarism?
AI isnāt perfect. It can make mistakes and sometimes spits out inaccurate or outdated information. Always review and refine the content. Never take what AI gives you at face value. Think of it as a first draftāyou still need to personalise it for your audience.
š” Where To Start with AI
The best thing to do is just to start small. Pick a task that youāre already doing and see how AI can help you do it faster or better. Whether itās writing a blog, creating social media posts, or drafting an email sequence ā start with something youāre familiar with and then play around with the prompts to see what AI can do.
Confidence comes with practice. Once youāve got the hang of writing prompts, it becomes second nature. The key is not to overthink it. Think of it as giving instructions to a human assistant. Be clear, specific, and let AI do the hard work for you.
