How AI Is Changing LinkedIn Visibility And What It Means for You
Insights from a LinkedIn® LoveIn with Gustavo De Amorim on AI search and GEO.
The way we search has changed. You may have noticed Google giving you answers rather than links, or you may already be using ChatGPT instead of Google to do your searches.
This shift matters because being found is no longer just about ranking on Google. It is about whether AI understands who you are, what you do and whether you are credible enough to be mentioned at all.
In this edition of The LinkedIn Edit, I’m sharing the key insights from a recent LinkedIn LoveIn Live, where I was joined by Gustavo De Amorim to explore how AI search works, why LinkedIn now plays a role, and what this means for LinkedIn visibility in practice.
Use this article as a guide to what to focus on now, what hasn’t changed, and how to make your LinkedIn activity work harder in an AI driven search world.

AI Search Is Already Changing How Businesses Get Found on LinkedIn
AI search is already the norm and we are now firmly in what is being called the ‘zero click ‘era OR ‘clickless’ era.
A growing percentage of searches end without a website visit. Instead, people get a summarised answer generated by AI.
That means visibility is no longer just about traffic. It’s about whether your name, brand or expertise appears in the answer. If AI doesn’t recognise or trust your digital footprint, you simply don’t get mentioned.
Why GEO Matters as Much as SEO for LinkedIn Visibility
Most people are familiar with SEO and how to rank in a Google search.
GEO or Generative Engine Optimisation focuses on how AI systems compile answers.
AI tools scan multiple sources, assess credibility, sentiment and consistency, then generate a response based on what they believe is the most reliable information.
This means it’s not just about being found but being understood.
However, AI is not perfect and will fill in gaps when information is missing, which may or may not be accurate. So, it’s imperative that clearly explain what you do, otherwise AI may well try and guess.
How LinkedIn Influences AI Search and Online Visibility
LinkedIn is one of the platforms AI tools actively pull information from. As a public available source, your personal profile, company page and public content can all be crawled by AI tools.
If your profile is public, structured well and consistently active, it can influence how AI describes you, your business and your expertise. If it’s vague, outdated or hidden, you’re invisible to both people and machines.
Plus, according to a recent article in Social Media Today, LinkedIn articles are now being cited more frequently in AI generated responses.
Why Clear LinkedIn Profiles Perform Better in AI Search Than Keyword Stuffing
AI rewards clarity. This means your personal LinkedIn profile and LinkedIn company pages need to be written in clear, natural language. You need to explain your expertise, answer questions and explain what you do and who you help.
Rule of thumb is ‘If a human can understand it easily, AI usually can too.’
How Online Reputation Signals Affect LinkedIn Visibility in AI Search
AI looks beyond your website and LinkedIn. It checks reviews, brand mentions, sentiment and consistency across the web. That includes Google reviews, Trustpilot, Glassdoor and how others talk about you online.
This requires a strong, consistent footprint builds authority. And activity sends authority signals
One of the biggest takeaways from the session was “What you do on LinkedIn matters just as much as what you write.”
Posting helps but commenting helps more.
Thoughtful, relevant comments show expertise, consistency and engagement. These are all signals AI pays attention to. Commenting really is the new posting.
Why Your Website Still Supports LinkedIn Visibility in AI Search
Your website still matters as AI will almost always check your website first. If it’s slow, broken or poorly structured, that sends a negative signal straight away. A healthy website with clear pages, structured content and answers to common questions reinforces your credibility.
FAQs and blog content are particularly valuable because they mirror how people search and prompt AI.
Why Consistent LinkedIn and Website Content Builds Trust in AI Search
AI looks for patterns, which means your entire online presence needs to be consistent. Your website, LinkedIn, videos, articles and even older content all contribute to how you’re understood. Consistent language, positioning and expertise across platforms makes it easier for AI to trust you.
Three Practical Ways to Improve LinkedIn Visibility for AI Search
Finally, Gus gave us 3 tips to boost your GEO visibility and send positive signals to AI searches:
1️⃣ Review your LinkedIn headline and job title: Are you clear about who you help and what problem you solve?
2️⃣ Reputation: expand your LinkedIn network (with the right people) to leverage visibility
3️⃣ Increase meaningful activity: Comment meaningfully on posts in your area of expertise
✅ Bonus tip: create content that answers questions. Posts, articles and FAQs written for people and structured so machines can understand them.
Final thoughts: LinkedIn Visibility in an AI Search World . . .
LinkedIn is no longer just a platform for posting and networking. It’s part of how people and AI tools decide who to trust, reference and recommend.
That makes clarity, consistency and purposeful activity on LinkedIn more important than ever.
So the real question is this. Is your current LinkedIn activity helping AI understand what you do and who you help, or leaving it to guess?
If you’re starting to question whether your current LinkedIn activity reflects what you actually do and who you help, it may be time to review it with fresh eyes. That’s exactly the kind of conversation I have with businesses and marketing teams every day.
